which is worse?

Dd is 5. 50 lbs. 47 inches.
We have to drive 60 miles one way today in a 3 seater truck.

Normally dd is in a backless booster.

She has to sit in the middle which is lap belt only.

My mother is arguing with me that she has to be in the booster with the lapbelt.

I told her it was safer for her to just sit in the seat than it would be to have her in the booster.

SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THIS CLICKY.

I'd say booster with seatbelt.

Booster.

Edit to clarify: She should use the booster.

Did I say that?

The booster is for a reason. Use both is what I said.

Neither is safe because it's only a lap belt. If you are in an accident, her upper body will ricochet forward and backward with nothing holding her back. Lap belt only is really not safe at all.

Use booster, it helps position the belt across her lap

Her post is confusing, so I wasn't sure which way you were answering. The title says ''which is worse''.
