cleaning before the maid comes?

I was hanging out with my sister yesterday and we were hanging in the living room talking..and then all of a sudden she gets up and starts cleaning the house..putting toys away, clearing the counter tops so they were empty (putting coffee machine and can opener) undere the counters..so I asked her why she was cleaning and she said the maid is on her way over to clean and she has to clear everything off before the maid gets there...

does this sound right?? I thought the whole point of a maid was to come and CLEAN your house? she was cleaning her house, so why pay someone to clean when your doing the cleaning? confusing to me.........explain!

Maybe she does more deep cleaning kinds of things more so than just picking up?

1 mom liked this
They clean, not remove clutter.
If you want them to do certain jobs and they get paid hourly, it's best to put things away so they get more done.

You have to pick up or they can't clean. You don't vac around toys. I clean a lot the night before and day of and I still end up making my own bed to put my pile of stuff I don't know where it goes...

It wouldn't really be clean then though.

Yes I used to do that when I had a cleaning lady. You move stuff out of the way so they can clean.
