I want to ask my doctor for one but is there special reasoning I need?

My reasoning,

Downs runs in my family distant but I've seen it, I had a miscarriage last year, and I'm a severe epileptic and slim chance but still a chance that my medicine could cause neural tube defects

why?

I thought they only give those if you are at risk, or are over 35.

Age, I thought. Maybe family history? Or if you had another child downs?

I qualified for one b/c I had a baby with a chromosome disorder. Maybe say you're worried about that possibility of a chromosome disorder.

My Dr asked if I wanted to do it and I said sure. Wasn't really any special reasoning that I'm aware of. But I was 30 when I got pregnant and I had some bleeding at like 4 weeks, so maybe that was why she offered? I would think having a family history and also being on a medication that increase the risk for neural tube defects would be more than enough. Just tell your Dr. you want the screening done.

Tell the doctor your concerns. However a scan is just a guide to look for defects. You need an amnio to be 100% sure.
