Were you Told to NOT give your child peanut butter before 2 years old? Did you follow that rule???

My 15 month old just had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch and I'm being told that I was wrong. I don't ever remember anyone telling me this...

My kids have always had peanut butter before 2 years. I think that is usually suggested more for families with a history of food and peanut allergies, or for children with siblings with food allergies.

No we didn't.  Actually, with our youngest our pedi suggested giving her a dollop of it around 6 months old.  He said there are new studies out suggesting that holding off on peanut butter could actually be what's causing the allergies.  Let me see if I can find something on it...

That is only if there are food allergies in the family . If you still have doubt call your peds nurse hotline :)

I waited until a year just because of texture, but one of DD's favorite snacks as a one year old was trail mix and crackers with PB on them.
