What is your opinion on a step parent disciplining the child? I wouldn't mind if a step parent told a child to go to your room until your mother or father gets home. But I am against a step parent discipling or spanking a child that is not their's opinions?

I'm a SM and I don't discipline my step kids at all. It's hard for me to even ask them to put the milk away. But I have no kids, so I think that's why it feels especially weird to me.

Spanking? Absolutely not. But discipling, yes. If the child is in the home he needs to be disciplined by the adult. Hell I let my sister give my kids a 'time out' why wouldn't I let my husband?

Personally i think discipline should be left up to the biological parents.

Agreed. Unless both parents and step parent put a discipline plan together, it should fall to the real parents

Exactly. Unless its a life or death situation I wouldn't intervene

I would not be okay with my ex's significant other discipling my child, and he wouldn't be okay with my significant other disciplining our child. We believe we are the only two who should discipline.

I disagree. My dh has raised my dd as his own , he supports her, he care for her and has taken on the role of her father he does discipline her and always has and will continue to do so.

Id be okay with it. I would trust their father to make that choice.

True if bio's are both okay with step parents disciplining then I guess it's okay. But everyone has to be in agreement.
