Then why is it considered a double homicide when a pregnant woman is killed?

In most cases, it depends on when the fetus is considered "viable" or the abortion laws on the books.  Killing a woman 6 weeks pregnant wouldn't be a double homicide, but killing a woman at 30 weeks likely would.

Because the pregnancy is wanted and planned for and the fetus is usually far enough along that it would have survived outside of the womb.

I have never heard of a double homicide case when the woman was only a few weeks along. These cases are usually with women who were several months along and very clearly pregnant..

I didn't think they looked at how for along the woman was when determining a double homicide..

Because an abortion is a chosen medical procedure. No one else gets to choose what you do with your body.

Most places its not and if it is it is only if the pregnancy was far enough along that the baby cpuld jave survived on its own outside the womb.

Murder is a legal term.  Abortions are legal.
