Caused some waves in the neighborhood today. *small update* *ETA*
There are two horses that live across the street from me, one of which is heavily pregnant (she was already pregnant when her owner adopted her from a rescue). I went outside to get some fresh air, and saw two children taunting and throwing rocks at the horses. Several of the rocks hit their target, and the horses were both backed into the corner. The mom was just sitting to the side laughing. I got pissed, and told them to cut it out. The mom got in my face and yelled "Don't you ever scold my babies!".
I snapped back "You should teach your children to respect animals, or at the very least, respect other people's property! What they're doing is considered animal cruelty, and you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing it!"
She got huffy and said "They're not even your horses!"
I replied "No, but I do know their owner, and he will be hearing about this."
She just rolled her eyes and took her kids back inside.
I checked the horses, and they don't appear to be hurt, but they're scared to death. I called the owner, and he showed up with his vet to check the horses out, and confront the kids' mom. He's PISSED!
Edit: The cops just showed up. The owner wants to press charges against the mom.
ETA: I'm not going to know anything more for a while. Anything involving the courts always takes forever and a day. I haven't seen hide or hair of the mom or her kids since the incident. The horses are doing just fine, and don't appear to have any lasting problems from the ordeal.
