Dh just made me feel like a failure.....

Because our son is 2 and doesn't speak, he can say words like mom, dad, hello, goodbye, and name people but sentences he just doesn't want to.
I've tried everything in the book, reading, singing, everything he just doesn't want to say anything else.
He just looks at me like I'm out of this world and would rather babble his baby language sentences then actual words.
And i am killing myself trying to get him out of the diaper and use the potty.
Dh just came up to me and said " if you didn't work that much then maybe you could do what moms do and teach the kid how to talk" this coming from the man that one year ago begged me to go back to work and help financially, fuck him.
He can teach his son to speak, who am I? Marry fucking poppins, should I feed him magical beans for the intellectual or maybe bake a holy ghost pie of wisdom.
Let me quit my job, we'll see who pays the freaking food and electricity.
Just venting... Don't mind me.

1 mom liked this

Einstein didn't talk until he was four. It's seems like your 2 yo is communicating just fine. He can obviously talk, so it's nothing to be worried about. Your husband is an ass and unless he is some child expert psychologist, ask him if maybe he could talk a little less.

My son didn't start talking to until he was 2 and 1/2. Also unless he has older siblings, talking usually takes longer for an only child. As for DH, tell him you quit your job and he can pay to take care of y'all.

Head up ass too far syndrome - ALL children are different. It has nothing to do with you working or not. I am a SAHM and my almost 5 year old has major speech difficulties. She is in speech therapy and a special class to help her with articulating. Work or not, each child is d-i-f-f-e-r-e-n-t!

I was told when mine were little, that at two they should have a vocabulary of about 100 words a day. Sentences don't usually come til about 3. Although most 2 year olds can say 2 sentence words.

One of my sons didn't really talk much until he was 4. We took him to multiple specialists because we were worried. Turned out he was letting his brother talk for him and he magically started talking about a week after he started pre-school because his older brother wasn't there to speak for him.

"Do what moms do" ?? Your DH is an ass. All children develop at their own pace. Instead of benign a jerk, your DH should help parents the child that BOTH of you made together.

I would turn it over to him then inform him then HE as his father needs to step up since he apparently thinks what you do isn't good enough. If he's going to be a jackass, let him be responsible. He'll learn real quick all kids develop differently when you start putting the blame on him.
