I take my kids to a sitter once a week for 2 hrs so I dont go nuts. I found out this last monday dd had hand, foot, and mouth. 6 days prior she was at the sitters.
I told sitter about it as soon as I knew. Well she textedme asking for half her normal weekly pay because she couldnt babysit her normal kids bc her son got it too. Wtf. Is she serious?
Dd had zero symptoms. I had no idea when I sent her.
For clarification. ..... she wants half of her pay for ALL the kids she watches. ..not just the pay for what i usually give her each week:(

If it was stated in a contract & you signed it...then yeah you owe her money. What do you plan to do?

No if doesn't work that way. Is she going to make the school pay her wages when her kid picks up a virus at school and she can't work because her kid is sick?

No. Contract. Just drop in care when needed

That's part of the risks of being a childcare provider. She shouldn't be in the business if she can't handle that.

Now expecting you to pay weather you bring your child or not is normal and expected, but expecting you to pay because she has to take time off due to illness is utterly absurd.

For two hours a week? What is half her normal weekly pay?

Seems like it would be an amount almost not worth arguing over. Or am I missing something?
