Mom Confessions Mom Confessions

Beer and wine are gross. Starting to think it's some kind of adults-only inside joke that I missed.

Seriously. Like fruitcake, everybody pretends to like it for the sake of tradition or because it's socially accepted that adults like wine. But nobody really does. At least that's my hypothesis.

The smell of either is enough to knock me back. The taste is worse. White wine tastes like what I imagine battery acid, canned white grape juice, and cat piss mixed together would taste like. Red wine just tastes like crushed old, vaguely rotten fruit with a hint of cat piss.

$5 wine or $500 wine. I've tasted em all, out of politeness and a hopeless optimism that if I taste it enough times, I'll start seeing what everyone likes so much. No cigar. All equally gross.

I like mixed drinks. I love good whisky. So it's not alcohol itself. It's wine. And beer. Beer is better than wine, but still gross.

Please tell me I'm not the only adult who drinks but DOESN'T like wine or beer?

I love beer, hate wine unless it's very sweet.

I'm sure you're not the only one. Both are an acquired taste.

I hate the taste of beer.  I don't love the taste of wine but I do like to drink a glass of red wine every now and then for the health benefits.  I much prefer mudslides, madori sours and such.

Agree. It's all pretty equally disgusting to me.

i love a sweet red wine. Mmmmhmmm! I love wheat ales too. It really depends I guess. i love the taste of whiskey but not the burn. Whiskey sours are one of my favorites since it cuts the burn of the whiskey but leaves the after taste.

I love both.

My favorites are Sam Adams Octoberfest and Summer Ale and Cabernet Sauvignon.

I personally adore wine. I am currently studying to become a certified specialist of wine and I work on the wholesale side of it making wine lists for bars and restaurants. I think a lot of it has to do with food pairings. What sort of varietals have you tried?

I like wine, but don't love it. I don't seek it out. Beer is yucky. I'm a vodka gir.

I love both. Theres crap beer and crap wine but I don't drink that - I'd rather have water.
