Am I in denial?

I went to a church today and they have a really nice area for kids to do Sunday school. The classrooms are separated by grade. Well after the service we went to get the kids and one of them who has a speech and language impairment was apparently moved to the special needs classroom because he wouldn't sit with the group. I was pretty offended.

Maybe she felt overwhelmed with him and felt it was easier on everyone involved? Why not ask the person why they made that choice?

By definition, a speech and language delay IS a special need

If he needed the extra attention then why not?
Why be offended when they didn't insult your child? They put them in a class that was more attentive to their needs.

You're not in denial since you are aware they have an impairment. However I think you are being overly sensitive if you are offended by that.

If he needed special attention, it was appropriate.

I'm mostly bothered that they didn't tell me. Also the children that were in that room where so much older and very little was taught like what's the point? He could've stayed with us.

Well if a child will "not sit with the group" and there is a lesson being taught- what else would they do with him? It's not a place where they have a one on one aide there to police a child!

Maybe it was a better fit for the teacher or your child?

They're volunteers, and the teacher may not feel equipped to deal with your special needs child, so she didn't....It's church, they're not specifically trained for these things, and they really shouldn't have to be.
