$530 a month for food?!?

I've figured out why so many people buy junk food with food stamps. My family of 3 now gets $530 in SNAP a month. Maybe they expect us to but formula for the baby. Before this we were only spending $200 a month on food. I guess I'll donate the rest to a food bank or something.

DH and I spend a little over $600 a month on a family of 4.  2 adults, one child, and one toddler.  We don't buy much junk.  But the produce and fresh foods cost more.

That's about what we spend for a family of 4, though I could and have done it cheaper when we need to.

I have always cooked from scratch for my family. There are no cookies or candy in my house unless I make them myself and I don't remember the last time we had chips. I buy fruit and vegetables in season and only buy meat on sale.

No they don't. I spend about $200 a month and most of my shopping list is fruit and vegetables.
