...and asked you to move to a lower paying job, more on par with him, would you do it?

And when I say doesn't like it, I mean really really upsets him and makes him angry and insecure.

I have been the bread winner before and my dh was fine with it, he stayed home with the kids till he found a job, it only was a few weeks but it didnt bother him.

I would tell him to shut it. The extra money allows him to do extras and provides financial security. If he was that insecure about an archaic notion, there would be some issues since he doesn't see women as equals.

No. But I also would never marry a man with security and self esteem issues.

No. That's his issue. Not mine.

Now turn the tables. If HE made more would he take a lower paying job?

I earn more. It drives him insane. I am certainly not going to earn less cause of his insecurities. But, we fight about it a lot.

I made more than DH when we got married.  He makes more than I do now (not by much) but that's because I chose a career change that required a different degree (advertising administrative assistant to special ed teacher) that I'd wanted to do since I was little and couldn't afford to do until I had the advertising job.  If DH had been the type who would get upset if I outearned him, we wouldn't have gotten married.

No I wouldn't.

Of course, I would never be married to a man that felt that way.
