My boys are in 4th grade...this is one of their homework problems tonight. They had 18 like this...is it me or does this seem way advanced for 4th grade.

I swear I did this in 7th grade...not 4th! What is your kid's homework like in 4th?

Yeah it does.   This is pre-algebra.

Pretty typical to me.  My 2nd grader is doing similiar problems to this.  The beginning stages of Algebra and has to figure out what X is etc.  He will be doing this by 4th grade.

That's what I say to that problem.

Gaaak that looks awful. I don't remember what my son was going in 4th grade, but I remember that was around when it wasn't that fun to help with homework any more!

I'm not smarter than a 4th grader, lol.

That does seem pretty advanced.

My 4th grader isn't doing anything even close to that. I really think that our schools here are way behind.
