It's be less than our rent..... But of course our credit is screwed up because the hospital had some jacked up nonexistent address for us, and gave collections an even more jacked up adress....
We've havnt had a late bill other than the ones we didn't receive. we never even received a collection notice.....
Ugh, and I love this house.... Figures.

And yes, it was the really real collection office.

Do you have $$$ for a down payment?

You can still apply and see if you qualify. Lots of people with poor credit are buying houses. Did you past off the collections? If you did and they are still on your credit report you need to call the agencies and have them removed.

Get your credit straightened out first. Or have a large down payment ready

My credit had a few dings and we still got a mortgage.  Have you actually tried to get pre-qualified and were rejected or is the hospital bill making you afraid to apply?  If it's not in the city, there are rural housing loans that are easier to qualify for than typical mortgages and many require no down payment.

We're going to check and see of we can qualify for anything.
We paid everything off as soon as we found out, no outstanding bills. But it sunk our credit....
When we spoke to the collection guy he said it would affect it for a while.

Not all of it. We just need a small loan to cover that part we don't have. Housing goes fast here or Wed just save up the last few thousand.

They need a down payment, and we need a fairly small loan, that's where the problem comes in.

All the bank told us was they can take 2000 dollars from us, loan us 2000 and we'd pay it off to build credit.... Or something to that effect.
