Do you all have those kennel/crate/cages? It seems that many people do. I had dogs growing up but we never used them and I'm genuinely curious. When are your dogs in them? Is it to sleep in or for when company comes over?

Yes, I know it's probably a dumb question.

I've always crate trained until they could be trusted loose while we weren't home, they're really useful during potty training

I used mine for house breaking. Then for a safe place for them when they are home alone. Dogs are a den animal and the kennels when used right become like their den.

I had two siberian huskies and never had to use crates for them. Shrugs.

We just found it easier to TRAIN THEM verses crating them

Our pug is also never crated, again it was easier to train then to crate

When we had a big dog she slept in her crate. She was to big to share the bed. After awhile we didn't even shut the door to it, we just said "time for bed" and she'd go in there and stay.

Also, when she was naughty we'd tell her to go to bed too. Doggy time out, lol!

I use mine for sleep and when we are away, especially for my young dogs who may not be completely housebroken yet. I also show my dogs so they travel in crates and I use them ringside.

We have a travel kennel for my boxer mix. He refuses to sleep anywhere but his kennel at night. He loves that place.
