Pitbulls for a family dog

What's your opinion on this?
I know lots of families who own 1 or 2 pitbulls & I know some families who absolutely despise the idea of even owning 1!

Have you ever owned one before? Please share your experiences. Bad or good

I had a pit and I loved her to pieces. She helped my brother learn how to walk as a baby. I worked at a vet clinic and have been bitten more by small dogs than big ones.

It's not the breed its about how they were bred and raised.

We currently have 2. Best pets ever. They are pretty much family. It's really not the breed, it's all about how they are raised.

When I was young, my family had a female red pitbull named Eve. She was the best dog. She used to sleep under my crib when I was a baby. I miss her.

Not an animal I would own, besides I think they are ugly.

I have been around several family dogs that were pits-even had DD around 1 as a baby. They are totally loveable/affectionate/sweetest dogs I have ever been around.

My sister rescued 1 from the gas chamber-he's her 90lb lap dog-biggest baby ever-he loves to give kisses and hugs and snuggle.....he's a great workout for her 1yr old twin grandsons.

Its all in how you raise them and treat them.

No f-ing way would I have one in my home.

Our neighbor got one and all of the other neigbors compained so much and made the neighbor so miserable the dog was gone in a week!!

I think the moment one comes into the shelter it should be put down.

I am fine with them for others and I don't judge.  I personally will never own one.

I had a lab/pit mix. He was a great dog, a little hyper, but I think that came from the lab part. We currently have 2 Great Danes. I have a friend who has had as many as 4 pit bulls at one time, all were rescues, and they all had amazing personalities.
