I live in West Virginia.  Yes..I know what people think of us.  Whenever people come here to do interviews they are determined to make the worst of it.  I just want to clear something up:  I do not nor have I ever known an instance of incest.  My whole family each has a full mouth of teeth (well I'm missing a wisdom tooth).  We are all literate except for my 3 yr. old and 4 mo. old.  We are clean and are not addicted to any drugs.  So tired of the stigma.  This is a beautiful place to live.  I am surrounded by mountains and rivers.  Steve Harvey is from Welch which is about 20 mins. from my home.  Oh.  I lied. My four mo. old has no teeth but shes ok.

There are stereotypes about every state, especially the southern ones.

They are mostly by people who have never visited the area.

I am from Arkansas and we have some of the most beautiful places and sites in the country. And some of the nicest, most helpful and generous people. Most of the southern states do.

Just ignore it because it isn't going to go away.

Lol. I think wv is beautiful. I've met a few people from there and none of them were incestuous.

I'm from Wisconsin.  My MIL did not want my DH to move here (they are from CT) because she thought it was all farmland and no one really worked here and everyone is all back woods type of people.  He has been here 7 years now and loves it!

I'm glad.  We seem misrepresented on television a lot.

I grew up in West Virginia.  Its people on the whole are just as intelligent - and have far more common sense - than many of those who put them down in a pathetic attempt to feel superior to someone else.
