My ex and I recently moved states because we both had family that lived here. My parent's left me store some of our belongings at their house because they had the extra space. Well, my ex and I ended up breaking up. My parents called my ex to come get his stuff that we stored there (I didn't even know about this)

Well my ex stole my $400 camera because my parents didn't watch him and they let him take whatever he wanted. Should they replace it?

No. If he stole it and you want it back, press theft charges. Otherwise let it go and cut your loss.

My parents basically let him though by letting him in the house and take whatever he wanted.

Call the cops. He stole your stuff.

No. HE stole it. HE should be on the hook for replacing it. Why would your parents be responsible for it?

He is the one who stole it.

That's a backward thought process you have there.

They knew it was mine and not much I can do because they let him take it.
