Do you have a way to treat yourself that takes virtually no time?

The best I've found is food or drink,  like a piece of chocolate or a glass of wine, on days when I'm having a rough day and feel like a "treat" could be a nice pick-me-up.  But there've been lots of hard days and my waistline is starting to notice.

Very nearly every other "treat" I can think of takes time: do some hobby, read, chat with a friend on the phone, watch a favorite show, go for a walk alone, etc... all take time.  Ideas for "treats" that are not food/beverage and take virtually no time?

Hug my kid is the only other thing I've come up with.  Some days that's awesome, but sometimes my munchins are the reason I'm feeling overwhelmed at that moment.  :)  (Not that I don't love hugging them anyway, but they may be less receptive and therefore it's less rewarding.)

lol, I'd not considered that.  Thanks.  :)

I think I'm trying to find the healthier alternatives.  :)

what's healthier for you than taking a hit, which will instantly de-stress you and put you in a better mood?  (assuming your'e smoking top o the line herbs)

That would be smoking for me, but obviously not worth considering.

Here's a bump

You certainly make valid points about destress and being in a better mood.  That is my goal.

I like to meditate for about 10 minutes at a time during the day. I just kneel with my hands in my lap and focus on my breathing.

This is a really good idea, thanks.  I was asking more about times when I am on the edge of sanity and can maybe get a few seconds (ie grab that piece of chocolate) but I bet if I added things like this in on days when I can find 10 minutes, I wouldn't reach the crappy stage as quickly or as often.  Thanks!
