Check engine light on?

I was driving along just fine on Friday when my check engine light popped on. I took it to a auto-zone where they checked to see what code came up and what might be wrong. They said it was a O2 sensor. I called my brother (who fixes cars or knows people who can) and he told me that he would take care of it Monday, that I could still drive the van

Well yesterday I was driving along and the light went off on it's own, it has stayed off since then. There seems to be no issues with the vehicle it is driving just fine. WTH? has this happened to anyone else? should I still have it looked at?

Personally, I would have your brother look at it anyway.

All the time. It sucks. When I went to see about having the O2 sensor replaced, I was told it would be about $300 for the part alone. My dh told me he would disconnect and reconnect the battery so the light would shut off. I needed an inspection sticker
