Do you think each kid in your family needs their own room? Or can they share? Does it depend on age and gender? We are looking for a new house and debating this. Please share your illuminating thoughts.

I came from a large family and always shared a room. My dds have been sharing, but the older is getting her own room next week and is very excited about it.

My kids never sleep in their own rooms. They both sleep together in the basement. Their bedrooms are unused.

My twins share and will share until they sleep through the night alone without needing to come to us or sneak into each other's bed. They're 8.

3 moms liked this

I shared a room almost my whole life, and I actually enjoyed the company...for the most part.  However, we had to separate my daughters because they were fighting too much, and keeping each other up at night, so we decided that they need their own space.  I think it all just depends on the family dynamics more than anything else.

Our oldest is 11 and has her own room. Our 7 year old and 3 year old boys share a room, 6 year old and 4 year old girls share a room, and 23 month old and 11 month old share a room.

My kids are 19 and 12 and opposite sex so they definitely need their own rooms.
