If you ever been poor what has it taught you? What advice would have for others?

Always put SOMETHING into a savings account. Even if it's just $1 a week. We do $15 a week and after several years have over $1000 for emergancies. It's a good habit to start.

Only when I ran away as a teen. I had a lot of fun until I got sick. I had a really bad ear infection that had one side of my neck and face swollen. I wimped out and called my dad. Oh! I was tons of fun as a teenager.

When I first moved out I was. I didn't have any kids and lived off beer. I had a blast.

If you can get financial aid, take advantage of it! Even an associates degree can take you out of the minimum wage market. It's hard work but it can be possible! You can take online courses and some community colleges offer low cost childcare during class hours, especially colleges that offer Early Childhood as a degree option. They use the in school daycare centers as a teaching tool. Mine was only $10 each 3 hour segment of the day. So $20 twice a week and I was able to go full time.

When you get on your feet help those less fortunate than others. Even if you don't believe in Karma there is something empowering about paying it forward.

It taught me to be grateful, others have it worse.
