1st off I know there are 3 sides to every story. And I know to take what children say with a grain of salt.

DD is 14 & in 8th grade. Today she informed me a teacher had called on her to answer a question. When she gave the wrong answer the teacher said she was stupid. At that point the class was laughing (at the fact that she was wrong & the teacher calling her stupid). She also says the teacher called the rest of the class stupid.

I'm thinking an email to the teacher with a carbon copy to the principal is in order?

UPDATE: so after bringing up the situation to my DD this evening she informs me this happened back in the 2nd quarter! And it was a sub teacher who no longer works/subs there. Why she couldn't bring this up earlier is behind me! I'm just glad I haven't emailed anyone yet!

I think that's the perfect way to address it.

I'd speak to the teacher alone first.

I'd speak to the teacher first, face to face. Then, if necessary, involve the principal.

Ask the teacher first.  Leave the principal off it for now.  If you do not get a satisfactory answer THEN take it to the principal.
