Uninvited guest just showed up while I'm home alone with my children. (photo)
I was ready to put my boys to bed, and asked my oldest to take his shirt off before we went upstairs, so I could pre-treat a stain. Alone in the laundry room, I looked out the window of a rarely used side door to see this.
And yes, I jumped, then yelled out an obscenity. Then assumed the role of tough mom to impress my boys (6, 2,) and handled it. (See comment on page 2). Husband is out of town and will be back tomorrow. So, what's a mom to do?
Edit: I believe it's a Black snake. Big one, but not poisonous. I'm in North Carolina, outside of Raleigh.
I live in a very wooded area. Feels like a vacation cabin, every day. Always like being close to nature. This was a little too close.
I also did not realize snakes were so adept at vertical climbing.
I didn't call anyone, because it's at night. This just happened two hours ago. And for those of you that think I'm nuts for "handling it" just wait till I see it in the daylight and try to trap it with my Tupperware.
Oh yeah, and I'm five months pregnant. Does that earn me anymore points? Or just explain my potentially irrational mama bear thought process? :)
