Long story short, my mil gave a baby girl up for adoption 23 years ago. It wasn't closed, but mil had never met her because she wanted the girl to decide for herself if she wanted her birth mom in her life. Fast forward to Friday, K (the child she gave up) was graduating from college and invited mil. Mil got her a gift and went, thinking she'd try to kind of stay in the background so as not to distract from the happy occasion. She didn't want to push anything on K.
Well, K turned out to be overjoyed to see mil. She included her in the pictures, and invited her to the grad party. The adoptive parents welcomed her with open arms and told everyone she was K's birth mom, instead of just saying she was a friend or something. I cried buckets looking at the pics and hearing how happy mil was. So in case anyone was wondering, not everything is full of drama. There are still people in the world who understand the importance of love and family.
