Why do they give these awards? Either the kids never gets sick, or the parents send the kid to school when they shouldn't.

Not award worthy, IMO.

I agree. I have students who have straight As and hardly go to class.

I always laugh when parents gloat about their kids perfect attendance awards.

Seriously...who fucking cares. It means absolutely nothing.

My kid get straight As...now there is something to give two shits about.

Or they and their parents actually see the value in being in class every day! Not every kid gets sick.

Every year I'm always amazed that students receive this award.  Maybe because I don't know how it's even possible : )

There is a graduating senior here who made the paper because she never missed a day of her school years. O.O

2 of my kids got perfect attendance last year and the same two will get it this year as well as my 7 year old. The other two are 12 and 10. The only one who won't get it is my 4 year old. It's her first year in school and she seems to contract every nasty thing that goes around the school. The other 3 have not been sick all year. I don't send my kids to school sick.

I only missed 4 days of school from K-12. I was so sad when I didn't get perfect attendance. I did get a special award commemorating 7-12 perfect attendance at my senior award ceremony. A good friend of mine had perfect attendance K-12!
