I GIVE MY KIDS ALCOHOL

My neighbor thinks I am awful bc I have let my children have a few sips of alcohol here & there & sometimes a small glass of wine w/dinner.

So I wonder if she will now stop crashing the get togethers in my backyard!

I got sips of wine and beer as a kid. No big deal.

How old? My bro's mom's family is Italian so it's pretty common.

Me too!  My grandparents were the first ones to come to the US & we had wine w/dinner many times as that is the norm.  I turned out fine :)

I let my son try this chocolate that had alcohol in it, they were so gross & he didn't believe us.  So we said "here ya go" to him & his friend (friend's mom was there & gave him permission) and needless to say I think half the chocolate ended up on the ground bc it was gross to them too.  Lesson learned: always listen to your parents :) LOL

Yeah, my dad is first generation born here and my mom was raised for the most part in Europe. They have an entirely different approach to alcohol.

I think it is fine since the family has done it for a long time.  Probably will deter (hopefully) the child from sneaking later in life and getting totally plastered as a teen or adult.

Well wine at dinner is normal for us & my child's wine glass has been passed down to my son & my family sent one for my DD.  Other times it is for them to try.
