End Of School Pool Party/Celebration

So Thursday is my dds last day of first grade. We are planning a huge pool party Friday to celebrate. Grilling, playing in the pool and just having a blast into the night complete with fireworks.

My question is what do you do (if anything) to celebrate with your kids ending another school year?

We take her out to lunch.

That's about it.

She has all summer to celebrate.

Do your children have sleepovers or parties?

We don't do much, we may go out to dinner, she is more excited to go to sleep over camp at the end of June.

Any excuse to have a party I guess. Why would you celebrate that? It just strikes me as weird.

Yes. My ds turned 10 today and had his party yesterday.

My dd will be 6 in six weeks and will be having a party.

I just don't see a reason to have a big party just because it's the last day of school.
