Well he could have made us sick...or worse!

Tonight DH made dinner because I was working a little later than expected, he does it occasionally. Simple dinner -- breaded baked chicken. I told him the ingredients and basic directions of what to do. He just needed to get it in the oven and I'd work on the sides when I got home.

Well, when I get home everything seems good. Chicken is in the oven, he's cleaning up. Then as I'm washing my hands he's POURING THE EXTRA BREAD CRUMBS BACK INTO THE CONTAINER.

Yes. The same bread crumbs he dipped the raw chicken into.

He didn't think it was a big deal, said he's done it before. I wanted to be sick right then and there.

Yikes. I threw out the whole container and I'm pretty sure he'll never do it again, but it totally skeeved me out!

My DH aunt used to make the best pork chops. She kept the flour in the cabinet after she used it. We all survived.

My biggest fear is salmonella. I would rather over cook the chicken til it's dry than risk it. So yes, I understand your fear. If the fork touches the raw chicken as I'm flipping it on the pan, it gets sanitized and washed.

You are not alone.

DH and I owned a pizzeria. We were both certified. Doesn't always make a difference if they don't care.

I chuckled when I read this. At least he tried to make dinner! I am sure he will know better next time.
