Saw the most awesome parenting move in Wal-Mart tonight.
So, I was looking at blenders and this family walks down the aisle with a really fussy 4-5 year old boy. He was whining about everything when finally his Mom put him in the basket. The kid proceeds to scream for help. "Help! Help! Someone HELLP MEEEE! Please! Help Me!" Of course people come rushing from aisles over to see what's up.
What does the mom do? She yells for help even louder. "HEEELLLPP!!! HELP!! Someone help me!!" The boy just looks at her in complete shock. And she has the most rad parenting moment. While she has his complete attention she says "When you yell for help, people come because they think you really need help. Apologize to these people Andrew, you just lied to them. He said sorry and stayed in the basket quietly.
I'm just standing there. Staring. Taking it all in. She totally parented without regard for the rest of the world. She knew what was best for her kid and did it, whether the world approved or not. I would like to say I do that, but in reality, I don't always.
Looking back, I totally should have slow clapped, lol.
