My DS's school supply list is ridiculous for 2014-2015 school year....

My DS will be attending middle school soon and he'll be in the 6th grade. I got his supplies list in the mail and oh god it's so ridiculous. Here's what he'll be required to have...

15 packs of college ruled paper

5 3-ring binders

50 #2 pencils, can't be mehanical pencils

pencil sharpener

blue, red, and black ink pens (2 packs each)

5 pocket folders w/ brads

pencil box or pencil pouch

3 sketchbooks

10 charcoal pencils

5 gum erasers

3 box of kleenex brand tissues

2 box of lysol disinfecting wipes

2 germ-x hand sanitizers

bandaids

rubbing alcohol

cotton swabs

scientific calculator for math

2 packs of Expo dry erase markers

2 packs of dry eraser

2 packs of copy paper

laptop for English

8GB USB drive

5 pairs of sweatpants/gym shorts for P.E.

5 pairs of T-shirts for P.E.

extra pair of tennis shoes for P.E.

5 packs of deodorant

$50 donation, cash only

This is for 6th grade, can't imagine what's on the list for 7th and 8th grade probably worse than 6th grade.

Some of those things like kleenex, dry erase markers, cotton swabs, bandaid are probably supplies for teachers. Also they want each student to have a laptop...uh there are quite a bit of students who has low or no income parents and their parents can't afford a laptop for their children and the school won't provide them one. Why in the hell they require each students to bring $50? Is the school on budget cuts that they want every student to bring $50 and some students' parents don't even have a cent to their name. I'm going to ask my DS if he wants to do online school like K-12 instead of attending to that school so I don't have to worry about this bullshit. My DD is only a year old and don't have to worry about that for now until she attends school.

Have you recieve the school supply list yet? Is it better or worse this year than previous years?

It's way too early for this!

At least you have advanced warning. Don't be one of those people that are going to annoy us in here in August because you didn't plan properly!

I only buy for MY child.

I do not buy the excessive number they ask for to supply other children whose parents are dumbasses.

I'm responsible for my kid and kid only

Are you supplying the entire school or just your kid? And deodorant? Since when does the school require that as a school supply? Insane list!

I have everything on our list for next year except sneakers and I wait to buy those. AND school isn't out for another 3 weeks. Shut up and provide your kid what he needs!
