sorry DD but you can't do summer school

My dd wanted to sign up for summer school. Not because she has to take classes but because she wants too. The problem is that we would have to pay for it as she is not being required to take it. We can't afford it.

Also we have no of getting her there as the bus will not be running. The school is about 15 miles away and right now we only have one car which my Dh needs to get to work.

She is really upset. I told her we can find other ways to keep her busy like going to the library and stuff.

I feel awful but it just isnt going to happen

Can she take classes online or home school in the summer?

It's too bad but that is just the way that it goes sometimes...

I would look into any online classes and/or having her spend some time at library.  Depending on her age, she could go by herself.   I think middle school is when i used to spend my whole day at the library just reading during summer time.

If the kid fails, do they have to pay to go then?

As a kid I hated that I couldn't go to school during the summer.

Sign her up for reading lists, DIY, turtle diary and have her check out the free games and information at kids.gov (from the US Embassy site)

Is there any chance of scholarship or sponsorship.  I cannot imagine not pulling out all the stops if my child wanted to go to summer school.  I hope you can do something to compensate.

I'm confused, is she struggling in school? Or she just loves school?
