RED LODGE - The Montana Department of Transportation said Wednesday morning that the Beartooth Pass from Vista Point on the Montana side to Long Lake on Wyoming side will continue to remain closed due to extreme icy conditions, blowing and drifting snow and snow showers.
The forecast calls for similar conditions to remain until Thursday morning.
The National Weatehr Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for that area.
If travelers drive to Vista Point or Long Lake, they will need to turn around and go back down the pass from those points.
It was 24 degrees on top of the pass Wednesday morning.
The department of transportation and the National Park Service will continue to monitor pass conditions. The next update is expected to occur on Thursday morning.
The scenic road was closed Wednesday morning due to winter weather conditions.
