Swimmers...How do you

Deal with the chlorine in your hair?

I swim four days a week and it's killing my hair. Any tips or suggestions? I've heard there's a special shampoo that washes chlorine out. Anyone use that? Does it work well?

Apple cider vinegar rinses. Coconut oil in your hair before you swim. Acts like a barrier.

I never wash my hair before going swimming and i take a full shower after swimming.  By time I wake up, i have "day old" hair and that is a good barrier.  I have thick dark brown hair so I do not know if that matters.  If you can tie it back, that can help protect hair a little bit or wear a swim cap.

There are swimmers shampoos that help. My aunt used to use Malibu Swimmers Water Action, and it seemed to work all right.

I competitively swam for twelve years. Nothing works. Worse than hair is skin. It's always fun when you start to sweat just a tiny bit and suddenly it smells like someone opened a bottle of chlorox.

I don't miss that.
