Eta: my mother has such old fashioned views on how to keep a man happy.

I don't argue with her anymore. Because they are so funny to me.
-I should sleep in prettier things
- I shouldn't let him see me groom myself
- if he's tired, I should let him sleep in (no mention of if I'm tired)
- hot meals, happy kids, clean houses.
- I should try to be pretty when he comes home. (Our definition of pretty is vastly different)

I could go on.
Even after all the time I've been with my husband, she still worries that he's going to leave or stray (just because my dad was a cheating ass, doesn't mean all men are)

Eta: I don't mean to bash anyone else who agrees or lives this way.
Anyone who has read my posts knows I love to hear how others live even if I don't quite understand.
But my mom who knows me better than anyone knows I am not that woman.
I love her to pieces, but I'm the only girl and she always wanted me to be a GIRL (but that's another post)

MIL told me I should 'reward DH for babysitting' -his own children mind you - every weekend by 'letting' him go fishing. When I asked what my reward was she told me that I didn't need one because it was my 'job'

And she is right. I understand about your dad but let me tell you this; I'm a professional escort.. 90% of the clients (and this is the figure as per the industry, not only my experience) are married. 90% of the men paying for a lady's time have wives, kids, the whole shebang.

Weight gain, loss of interest in sex, boring sex, mechanical sex, letting yourself go,I'm sorry to say it, but these (physical disability excluded) are the reasons most cite for enjoying these arrangements.

Your poor mother. I'm so glad society's views have moved on from this! A an is NOT more important than a woman.

I'm not much different than when we married.
If he wanted a put together woman.
I hope he would've found one and not married me.

I have to agree with your mother ( I am a little " old fashioned" my self) what man wants to come home from work to screaming kids, dirty house,no meal, and a wife that looks a mess and won't put out.

My mom thinks that if you don't have sex with a man enough he'll cheat. I think it's really sad.
