Depends on house rules.   Right now we are a one cat family so I would be upset due a new cat making our current cat upset.

I'm allergic to cats, but I would be so pissed that the cat could stay and the 19yo would be rehomed!!

I wouldn't be upset about the cat really. I'd be upset that they didn't ask me.

The cat would go back. I wouldn't let it in my house.

My brother bought a tarantula when he got his first job at 17. He didn't ask my mom at all. Tried to hide it from her at first. He opened the cage to feed her for the first time (her name was Rosie) and she jumped from the cage to the ceiling. He ran out screaming like a little girl. He didn't realize that tarantulas can jump like that. My mom had to climb on chair and use the broom handle to knock it off the ceiling. He sold her back to the pet store after that. He didn't get another pet until he moved out at 22. He got a hamster. Lol

well considering i'm allergic to cats and DD has asthma, I cannot imagine it happening in my home. but as an observer, yes if my child brought home a random pet, we'd be mildly annoyed.
