Hospital no longer allowing formula?

So, I was just reading on some updates at the maternity unit at my local hospital. They are no longer allowing formula unless it is medically neccesary because the mother can't breast feed. I will NOT breast feed. It is a risk to my child, says my dd2's infectious disease specialist, but my OB/GYN says it doesn't matter. So, I will be buying formula and bringing it.

And to all those 'breast is best' people.... idc.

I've never heard of that...My son's lower pallete needed developing when he was first born so he had a hard time latching on to my nipple and required formula in a bottle with a specially shaped nipple. They didn't give me a hard time.

it's not that they aren't allowing formula, they just aren't providing it. if you want to use formula then what is the big deal about buying it yourself?

even if the hospital provided it i'm sure they would bill you for it.

How can that be legal? They are taking away a right that they should have no decision over.

Private hospitals can pretty much set the ground rules.
