...to our returning veterans, many of whom suffer from PTSD.  I think lighting off fireworks that do nothing but sound like an explosion is assanine way to celebrate our freedom.  Why not just leave it to the pros, light a sparkler and have a beer?

To suffers of PTSD, the sound of explosives can trigger horrible memories of war, flashbacks, etc.  We owe a debt of gratitude to our armed forces and scaring the shit out of them with M80s is a shitty way to show thanks.

Oh well. It is a part of life and they will have to deal. Hopefully they are getting help.

Ya hubby said they sound like was mortar rounds, he was awake all night last two nights..he does have PTSD but he doesn't expect the world to revolve around him. But I sure wish that they wouldn't spend all night lighting those loud ones off! It kept me awake too! Ugh

I was admittedly annoyed at the fire works last night. We purposely didn't go to a fireworks display because our son is only 1 and it's way past his bedtime. The neighbors decided to say fuck the quiet hours rule in our apt complex and kept lighting off fireworks. Thankfully he didn't wake up but damn they were loud. The whole apt was shaking.
