My son was the only one not invited to his classmate's birthday party :(

The invitations got passed out on the last day of school and he noticed.

He's mildly autistic and has difficulty with social situations. He's 10 and plays rough because he sees the other kids being a bit physical when they play but takes it too far, and similarly doesn't get the difference between poking fun at someone or something politely and being rude or mean when he does. We're working so hard on these things but the other kids think he's a bully because of them.

It breaks my heart for him. Thankfully, he was only a bit upset and seems to have moved on, but it hurts my heart. I tried to call the kids mom but she was pretty mean and actually called him a bully to me. Idk, it's just hard :(

Were you expecting the mother of the child to give him a free pass because he has autism. Its a hard reality and I'm sorry he wasn't invited but I can hardly say I blame the mother.

Sorry but shit happens, it's a part of life.

Autistic or not, he's a bully. Your gonna have to teach your kid life is not always fair!

Teach him to not hurt other people and this won't be an issue! If you don't the only friends he will have is other autistic kids. He can and will learn if you explain it to him.

You actually called the mom? Keep doing that and you're going to make social growth worse for him. The other kids see him as a bully and as a result don't want to he around him. Maybe this will be a wake up call for him. I also have an autistic child and we've had to work through social situations as well.

I wouldn't invite the class bully, either. Maybe it's time to stop making excuses for your son, because it's affecting him in a negative way.
