Every time people get the 4th of july and memorial/veterans day confused it makes me cringe. July 4th is the day the deceleration of independence was signed, it really has nothing to do with the military.
I don't know why it bothers me but it just does. Maybe because I learned the difference in like 2nd grade and it seems like no one else had.
What makes you ladies cringe?

Well, this is 'Murica. We don't have to be correct or accurate or even know our own history. We just have to be mindlessly patriotic and shout and holler about it as loud as we can, no matter what the holiday.

It absolutely has to do with the military. It is our military that fights for the freedom we are celebrating on July 4th.

I agree. It drove me crazy on Memorial day when everyone on Facebook was thanking their brother and cousin who served and was alive and well. It really irked me . If you don't know what the day is for you should not celebrate it.

The military back then maybe, but present day... not so much. They have veterns day.
