DH has been on this "we don't have money" phase, and is being a complete ass and cheap ass lately. Trust me, we have PLENTY of money, so what gives. Lately every time I go grocery shopping or any kind of shopping, he now asks to see receipts. In our 8 years of marriage and 9 years of having joint accounts, he's never asked once "how much did you spend", "let me see receipts". He is starting to piss me off, royally.

Perhaps he is spending money without you knowing.

Maybe there is an expense that he hasn't told you about that he is worrying over. I would ask him what is up with it. Make sure you are not confrentational when you talk to him.

He has a guilty conscious and I'd be finding out why.

My dad began doing that when he started spending a lot on his mistress.

This too was my first thought, or he's hiding some financial trouble.

This is what I would suspect.

Is he afraid f losing his job? I got like that when they announced they were laying off 30 people a few years ago. I narrowly escaped that one.

Show him the receipts if he wants to see them. It should not piss you off to hand over a grocery shopping receipt to him.

I'd discuss it with him. There's got to be a reason for the change
