My DH's father got gay married....and guess what happened
Not a damn thing other than two people exchanged vows and rings and kissed and we had a reception... just like a heterosexual couple. Beautiful ceremony full of happy joyful tears that after so many years these two men could FINALLY share all of the rights and privileges that my DH and enjoyed for the last 11 years.
The Earth did not spin off its axis. The Church did not implode from God's wrath. Our children did not need any explanation why Grandpa G was marrying Grandpa P. (Other than why it took them 14 years to finally tie the knot...it was more uncomfortable explaining why the LAW prohibited this rather than WHY they were getting married.) No one turned gay as the result. No one married a barn yard animal.
This is my DH's biological father, not through a surrogate, DH was born when FIL was married to his bio mother, while he was denying his sexuality. He thought that by marrying a woman and having a child, he could make himself straight. While I am grateful that he fathered my husband, I would never want anyone to deny who they are and deny themselves the joy and happiness from loving and being married to the person of their choice.
