Play on my phone or tablet? That's a rule in our house. We have two young girls. They each have a leappad and a leapsters. We also let them play on Abcmouse on the desktop computer. They get 20-30 minutes on that every couple days. I see no reason they need to play on my phone or tablet.
My oldest asked my sil if she could play a game and without even thinking she handed her phone over. I was like nooooo they don't play on phones. She looked at me like I was nuts. Yet they are constantly replacing tablets, laptops, phones, you name it.
I guess a big part of it too is that I don't want them to bit sitting around playing games all day, I'd rather they be playing barbies or riding their bikes or swinging on the swingset.
Please tell me I'm not the only one!

I let my son and niece play with my phone. It's no big deal. My son also has a 3ds, a dsxl, and his own tablet he plays as well.

Only in places where there is not much other option - i.e at my oldest's specialist appointments or something where there will be lots of quiet sitting and waiting expected. And this is normally AFTER they've spent 20 minutes colouring. For instance, we had to go to the ER for my youngest a few weeks ago, you bet the other 2 had mine and DH's phone so we could concentrate. I don't allow them to touch my eldests phone though. I can't afford to replace that if (when) they break it

Count me out of that group. I see nothing wrong with playing on my phone if we are out waiting for something, in the car, whathaveyou. He loves electronics, as do I. As do you, if you are sitting at home on your computer right now.

And my son got a phone when he was 8. He stared staying home alone and we don't have a landline. People seem to forget that phones are things with a purpose, not just toys.

My 2.5 yr old has an iPod and tablet.

He's so far from sitting around all day.

He's also been taught to be careful and hasn't broken one yet.

Sometimes he does play with my iPhone.

My girls play on my phone and iPad occasionally, and they each have a Kindle Fire, dd1 has a Nintendo DS, and dd2 has a LeapPad.

Electronics are apart of our world. I don't see the big deal. But I guess my kids aren't the type to become addicted to that stuff, so I have no need to worry.

My son has an iPad mini and I have my own ipad. He doesn't sit around playing games all day either. My youngest is 2 and he is able to sing his alphabet and recognize the letters individually In addition to counting to 10 and recognizing shapes and colors. He also loves to play on his piano and will begin taking piano lessons towards the end of the year.
Technology is not this "big negative" thing that some people make it out to be, if it is utilized correctly it can really help with a childs development. Obviously children still need to stay active so as with anything else there are limitations and structure.

My kids have their own tablets so they have no need to bother asking for our phones.

I have to tell you, this will probably change as they get older.  Unless you have a land line where their friends can call them when they're 12, 13, 14....you will WANT them to have a phone.  I certainly did not want a bunch of teenagers calling MY phone to talk to my kids.
