No presents for a birthday party?

My son got an invitation to his friends' birthday party and his mom INSISTS no presents. I feel like a huge jerk doing that, and on the other hand will I offend her if I send a gift anyway? I don't know what to do here. Help?

We do no gift parties. Seriously no gifts. If you wanna do anything do a donation to somewhere in the child's name. But we do no gifts because our kids have more than enough and our family spoils them and we just want them to have fun with their friends for their birthdays.

Ask her (the birthday boys' mom) why no gifts. Maybe there is something else you can do.

do what you're told and be happy to save the extra money

I also requested no gifts.  After growing up very poor and never able to afford a gift and thus not going to parties. I never wanted anyone to feel obligated to bring one to my kids. Parties were about spending time with friends, NOT presents.

Don't bring one...it's at their request.  You're not being a jerk.

Haha yeah it's always nice to save money. But it just feels wrong!

I would obey the invitation.  I know too many people that get really upset wihen they say NO gifts and people insist on getting a gift anyway.  Nowadays, kids have too many toys, so I think that is why they don't ask for more toys at parties. The party is the birthday gift.

I would do what she ask. I would feel bad too though.
