In this area that would be about 3x more than most make.

Considering that's over half again the average income in the US, no, that's not poor.

I could see it being rough if you lived in NYC or something and had a family to support on that amount though.

Some places it wouldn't be.

It depends on your bills, your location, the size of your family.  We are paying tuition for our last 2 kids, helping to support my mom, his aunt in NYC, and his deadbeat brother with mental illness and a drug problem.  So for us, no it wouldn't be enough.

No I consider that the higher end of middle class. 

Poor is a family grossing under 20k IMO

No. Around here most people are making 26,000-30,000...I'd honestly be happy with 30,000 a year.
