I hate taking money from him

My dad, that is.

He showed up earlier, we aren't that close and never have been. My mom and him split when I was 5 and he never paid child support and I rarely saw him. I now see him a few times a year and it's very sporadic when I do.

Anyways, while I was here he gave me $100 (not much, I know, but still). I tried refusing to take the money and he insisted I take it.

I always feel guilty when I take it. Everyone (including his own parents) always tell me to take it, that he owes it to me and to not feel guilty.

Am I crazy for feeling guilty?

I hate getting money from family. I'm not in your shoes though. I mean, I'm not sure how I would feel about a dad who never supported me now giving me money.

On one hand, it's about time! On the other, you're probably a strong woman who doesn't like being given things. Otherwise it wouldn't bother you I don't think.

He feels guilty for not being there for you emotional orffinancially and I think you should take it cause maybe it is what keeps him ticking.. he obviously has it to spare..
