I guess this makes me a judgemental b**ch.

My sister is an accountant for a debt counselling company.

And yet, every week she goes to a payday loan place and gets a paycheck loan.

I think it is just so stupid.  I can't help but shake my head at her for it.  She should know better even more than other people.

I don't get it. I did that at amscot once...paid it back the next week. What's wrong with that? What am I missing?

It's like the doctors kid that won't be seen even when they're deathly ill... or the preachers son who won't go to church. One could even apply the old saying... those who can't do, teach...

She goes every week.  Every paycheck she borrows and then has to pay a fee.  So each check she is losing a couple of hundred on fees and then doesn't have enough to cover her bills, so she has to borrow again.

Well for one thing... the interest rates are fucking ridiculously high, and what if her sister actually had an emergency?

if she is doing this bi weekly... chances are she's burning through twice her pay... which means... she's probably not saving a dime, when she needs extra cash, she won't be able to get another advance... chances are she will be up shits creek without a paddle...

See you did the smart thing... you paid it, and never looked back, (it can be helpful to low income folks in a bind as a last ditch kinda thing...)most people don't have that kind of willpower... they see more $$$$ and it starts a vicious cycle...

Yeah, at the time we were fucking broooooke. Car broke down and we almost missed the rent payment, so it was a last ditch effort to not get charged a ton for late rent. It didn't even occur to me to keep doing it lol...you have to pay it back.
