I have an obsession/compulsion to pull my skin off.

Like scratch until there is an opening and peel it back like tape.

I know skin doesn't work that way, but I can't get this visual compulsion out of my head.

I have sores on my scalp and the back of my hands from picking picking picking to lift the skin.  I find bumps and scratch and pick until there is a "corner" I can pull up.

This is actually a medical condition..something along the lines of hair pulling. You should see a therapist. I have a mild, more of bad habit to pick. Its not as severe, but I love zit popping/picking and will pick a scab several times.

I could never tell anyone about it in real life.  It's too embarrassing.

It sounds a bit like the hair pulling compulsion. I would seriously tell your doc. Good luck.

I have trich (hair pulling) which is in the same category of disorders as yours. It sucks! I agree on seeing a therapist.

My best friend also suffers from trichotillomania. She's covered in scars all over her body. Speak with your doctor about it. It's a compulsion disorder that can be suppressed and treated with therapy and sometimes medication. You're not alone.

It's best to get treatment now, before you end up with a staph infection.
