Did you change your last name after you got married? Why?

Why did you?  Did you ever consider not changing your last name to his last name?

It never crossed my mind not to but I have a cousin that kept her name. It's confusing at Christmas time when I send Christmas cards! Makes for a lot of names to add to the envelope.

Yes I did.  I did it because I wanted to.  I have since divorced after 18 years of marriage and I changed it back to my maiden name.

It was important to him, and I didn't really care either way. Plus, this way we all have the same last name. It wasn't really an issue, just kind of an afterthought. We had more important things to discuss.

I changed mine. I didn't want to be associated with those people who raised me. A few yrs ago, I changed my first name and dropped my maiden last name on my birth certificate all together. My birth certificate shows my name to be married name.

Because his name is pretty, has a sex appeal to it :) and my last name was anything but lovely.
If his last name was something like limpdickson then.... I might not have changed my last name.

This for me too. I would change it back, but it's a hassle and I'm a busy lady.

I did. I came from an unconventional background and was using my mom's name so just wanted the whole family to have the same name/be traditional.

It was important to him that we shared the same last name, and I didn't mind taking it.

I love it actually :).
